E-cigarette bill heads to Senate Floor for full vote

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A measure regulating the sale and use of e-cigarettes, in a manner similar to the regulation of regular cigarettes, is on its way to the Minnesota Senate floor for a full vote.

The Senate Commerce Committee approved the bill in a 7-6 vote.

The measure puts restrictions on the sale of e-cigarettes, including where they can be used and penalties if they're sold to anyone under the age of 18.

One lawmaker questioned the restrictions saying there are no concrete studies or evidence that prove e-cigs are harmful.

A House version of the bill only goes as far as restricting use in state-owned buildings, and leaves it up to cities to decide on restrictions.
