St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Governor Mark Dayton signed a bill Friday allowing Minnesota's 12,000 daycare providers the right to unionize.

The bill was passed by both the House and Senate after more than 27 hours of combined debate.

With the Governor’s signature, self-directed PCAs in public programs now have the right to collectively bargain with the state for better wages, benefits and standards, according to a news release from the Governor's office.

Several lawmakers and childcare providers said there will be a lawsuit to appeal the measure.
