Gov. Walker to be in Superior Thursday

Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker will be in Superior Thursday.

Walker will be holding a press conference at UWS to discuss the University of Wisconsin System tuition freeze.

The press conference will start at 11:10 a.m. at the Student Union Dining Lounge.

Walker met with students at the UW-Green Bay campus on Tuesday to discuss the tuition freeze.

Walker added the freeze to the proposed 2013-2015 Biennial Budget. This two-year freeze will be a first for the UW-System since its inception in 1971.

While in Green Bay, Walker said that tuition at four-year institutions in the UW-System has increased by at least 5.5 percent every year since 2001. He said the two-year tuition freeze will help lighten the load for students and families.
