Sen. Reinert Won't Run for Secretary of State

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A change of heart for Minnesota State Senator Roger Reinert.

The Senator announced on his Facebook page Tuesday that he's decided against a bid for Secretary of State.

His full Facebook post:

"After a month of conversations, thoughts and reflections I've decided against a run for MN SecState. The role is critical in our state, and I am especially passionate about the civic engagement aspect. I believe the qualifications for the role match my personal skill set well, and I really wanted to see at least one candidate for statewide office who both lived and worked in greater Minnesota.

The work I do in both the classroom, and at the Capitol, is equally as important. And I'm not looking for a reason to leave Duluth."

He had previously expressed interest in the position.

Current Secretary of State Mark Ritchie announced earlier this year he would not seek re-election to the seat in 201
