Senate Caucus rejects House compromise on minimum wage hike

March 27, 2014 Updated Mar 27, 2014 at 2:27 PM CST

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - It's back to the drawing board following a very short conference committee hearing on raising Minnesota's minimum wage.

The Senate Caucus on Thursday rejected the House offer following a three minute meeting.

DFL Senator David Tomassoni says there aren't enough votes in his caucus to support inflation.

The House compromise, introduced Tuesday, calls for inflation to be capped at three percent starting in 2017.

The committee could reconvene Thursday before midnight to continue talks.
