St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A proposed measure that would tighten regulations on methadone clinics in Minnesota got a refresh Monday in a Senate committee.
Lawmakers rewrote the bill, co-authored by Senator Tony Lourey (DFL-Kerrick) , to get stronger support from the federal level to monitor distribution of the drug.
Lawmakers also want to ensure stronger communication between Department of Human Services and methadone clinics across the state.
Senator Lourey says over-prescription has allowed for more street usage of the drug.
