Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Ely Mayor Roger Skraba and St. Louis County Commissioner Mike Forsman have announced their endorsement of Rep. Chip Cravaack to send him back to Congress for the 8th District Seat.
Mayor Skraba sent out the following statement:
"Like many independent-minded northeastern Minnesotans, I always support the person, not the party. Earlier this year, I endorsed Jeff Anderson in the DFL Primary for Congress. With Jeff no longer in the race, I am pleased to support Chip Cravaack for Congress. Three of the biggest reasons I support Chip: his leadership on the BWCA land swap, his unwavering support for mining, and his strong opposition to any additional gun control. Chip will be good for our communities and good for jobs. I encourage my friends and neighbors to join me and vote for Chip Cravaack for Congress."
Commissioner Forsman sent out the following statement as well:
"I commend Chip Cravaack for his strong efforts to bring more jobs to northern Minnesota -- Chip's approach is not partisan, he simply wants all our children and grandchildren to enjoy the same opportunities we've had. Having spent over 30 years as a Steelworker in the mines, I know how important mining is to our community. Chip will not stop fighting on this important issue. Like me, Chip is a union man and a veteran. I've been a lifelong Democrat, but I'll be splitting my ticket in November and voting for Chip Cravaack for Congress."
Both Mayor Skraba and Commissioner Forsman previously endorsed Jeff Anderson in the DFL Primary for Congress.
