Mary Burke wins nomination, faces Gov. Walker in November Election

Madison, WI (NNCNOW.com) - Voters in Wisconsin on Tuesday helped Democrat Mary Burke advance to the general election for Governor.

As of 9 p.m. Tuesday Mary Burke had received 36,066 votes over her opponent, Brett Hulsey who had 4,580, with 12 percent of precincts reporting.

Burke is the first woman to be nominated for the state's top job.

"I am truly honored by the trust placed in me by Wisconsin voters and look forward to continuing to earn the support of Republicans, Independents and Democrats alike over the next 84 days," Burke said in a statement.
