Grand Rapids, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Monday night's storms have left around 10,000 people in the Lake Country Power service area without power.

Lake Country Spokeswoman Tami Zaun says affected areas include Grand Rapids, Cohasset, Nashwauk, Hill City and Hibbing.

Zaun says crew will work through the night to get the lights back on. She says the area experienced strong winds as storms moved through the region.

According to Chief Meteorologist Adam Clark, a dozen trees were knocked down about a mile northeast of Grand Rapids.

Earlier Monday, Lake Country Power had asked customer to conserve energy during the day in an effort to keep electricity costs down.
