DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Duluth Mayor Don Ness made a major announcement that he says will bring 200 jobs to the city downtown on top of hundreds of construction jobs.
The AtWater Group, which acquired the former KDLH building in 2006, now plans to build a 15 story building on the site, turning it into an $80 million investment at the corner of Superior Street and 5th Avenue West.
Ness says a major tenant will anchor the building, but the name of that company is not yet being revealed at the request of the company. However the mayor says that announcement should come "soon".
Brian Focier, the President and COO of AtWater Group says $60 million will come from private investment and $20 million from public. He says the building will also have retail space along Superior Street, and will also have parking.
Mayor Ness thanks Focier for having the vision in 2006 to buy the site and now develop it, bringing more vibrancy to downtown.
