Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - According to the Bayfield Co. District Attorney, Craig Haukass, 23-year-old Chelsea Nicole Cadotte, of Bayfield, was charged Tuesday in Bayfield County Circuit Court with second-degree reckless homicide and three counts of first-degree reckless injury in connection with a car accident that killed Mariah Gordon, her 2-year-old daughter, in July.
Gordon, along with three other passengers--including two more of Cadotte's children--was ejected from the Chevy Blazer after it left state Highway 13 just north of Washburn, on July 23rd.
The Blazer rolled through a ditch and into a field, ejecting both passengers and at least one children's car seat. No passengers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
Cadotte was booked in the Bayfield County Jail, and bail was set at $25,000.
"She surrendered herself willingly to the court," said Bayfield Co. District Attorney Craig Haukaas.
Cadotte will appear in court in November, when it will be determined whether or not Cadotte will take her case to court or accept the charges.
