Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former Mountain–Iron–Buhl standout D.J. Winfield has been reinstated to the UMD Bulldogs football team following a one year suspension for violation of team rules.

Winfield was suspended by the team the week of last season's NCAA quarterfinal game during the Bulldogs run to the national championship.

He has been reinstated for the remainder of this season, his senior campaign with UMD.

In his time with the program, Winfield has 2,772 receiving yards, 382 rushing yards, and 30 total touchdowns.

He was a redshirt freshman when the Bulldogs won their first NCAA national championship.

#9-ranked UMD will be at home this Saturday in the NCAA quarterfinals, taking on Wayne State (MI) at 12:00 p.m. at Malosky Stadium in Duluth.
