Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The city of Duluth has shut down due to weather.
The City of Duluth offices and facilities will close immediately due to deteriorating weather conditions. However, essential services such as police, fire department and special services will remain open and active.
City offices will resume regular business tomorrow.
The Duluth Zoo is also closed and Parks and Recreation skating at the Heritage Center and Bayfront Park are canceled today.
MnDot and State Patrol have also closed their offices because of blizzard like conditions.
Also, the Duluth Transit Authority is reverting to their snow emergency route. Other than the “mainline service” along Superior Street and Grand Avenue between 61st A.E. in Lakeside and Commonwealth and McCuen Street in New Duluth (Route #2), all DTA routes will be cancelled after 11:30 a.m., including routes #16 and #17 in Superior.
The Emergency Winter Weather Schedule runs every half an hour with the last bus departing downtown tonight for Lakeside (61st A.E.) will be 10:40 p.m.; and the last bus to New Duluth (Commonwealth and McCuen) tonight will be 11:10 p.m.
