Duluth Man Behind Bars Following Home Invasion

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- A 36 year old Duluth man is behind bars Friday after invading a home and then jumping into Lake Superior this morning.

According to the Duluth Police Department, the invasion happened on the 2700 block of Branch Street just at 10:30.

The 63 year old woman who lives at the house noticed her bathroom window was broken and then heard someone walking upstairs. The suspect then pushed the woman against the wall and left with a backpack full of items he stole.

Police were called and shortly after spotted the man walking a few blocks away. A chase ensued to the Lakewalk where the suspect jumped into Lake Superior.

He was taken into custody shortly there after. Charges for 1st degree burglary are pending.
