Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - The Edgewater Resort and Water Park in Duluth is investing $100,000 into equipment that purifies using ultraviolet light.

Last month a report from the Minnesota Department of health linked several cases of cryptosporidium.

Cryptosporidium is a parasite that causes flu like symptoms.

According to ZMC officials standard pool chlorination doesn't impact cryptosporidium, but UV light renders it "harmless".

Officials with ZMC Hotels, parent company of the Edgewater, say the investment is the company's commitment to ensuring all guests safety.
