Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - The first wave of 148th Fighter Wing members who deployed to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan returned to Duluth Monday afternoon.
Approximately 50 personnel plus the units F-16s were greeted by families and friends.
They spent two months in Afghanistan, uncharted territory for the group. But on Monday, it was a familiar, comforting sight as the troops stepped off the plane and into the arms of family and loved ones.
The Bulldogs provided Close Air Support, protecting coalition ground forces, a mission that included intense training six months ahead of this summer's deployment.
This was the Wing's forth major overseas deployment.
