Eveleth-Gilbert Girls Hockey Coach Resigns

EVELETH, GILBERT---(Northland's NewsCenter)--An Iron Range girl's hockey coach of 8–years has stepped down from his position as head coach.

Ron Hendrickson, coach of Eveleth Gilbert Girls Hockey team was put on paid administrative leave at the start of the month pending an investigation.

The district's superintendent Deb Hilde told the Northland's NewsCenter, Hendrickson submitted a one sentence resignation to the superintendents office.

The school board has not formally accepted the resignation at this time.

Superintendent Hilde said Mike Lenich and Dave Kunz will coach the team for the rest of the season.

Under Hendrickson's coaching, the Golden Bears took 4th place in the Class A state tournament in 2011.

They also went to state in 2009.

Superintendent Hilde declined to comment on the nature of the allegations against Hendrickson.
