Two Charged in Connection with Cab Driver Assault, Robbery

-- Two people have been charged with in connection with robbing and assaulting a the driver of a cab.

A 17-year-old Duluth boy has been charged with two felonies in connection with robbing and assaulting the driver of a Duluth cab.

He will face charges of 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery and 2nd Degree Assault.

18-year-old Paul Rowe of Duluth will face the charge of 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery.

According to a juvenile delinquency petition, on October 14th the 17-year-old, and an 18-year-old Rowe got a ride from a Custom Cab in the early morning hours.

When the driver put the cab in park to collect the fare, one of the men pulled out a handgun with a long barrel and demanded money. As this was happening, the other male started chocking the driver.

The victim broke free and escaped. As he was running away, the driver heard shots. He then grabbed approximately 200 to 300 dollars and threw it on the ground.

The Custom Cab driver escaped with minor injuries and called 911.
