Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) -- A man has been charged for allegedly stealing several guns from a Superior store earlier this month.
19-year-old Cody James Johnson is charged with one count of Burglary - Arming Self with a Dangerous Weapon after break-in at Shooters Supply on May 9th in which he allegedly stole 15 guns.
According to the criminal complaint, officers arrived on the scene of the burglary and say that there were no obvious signs of entry but noticed that an access hatch on the roof was damaged.
Officers noticed footprints leading from the Boss Electric building to the Superior Shooters building.
An annoymous tip from a confidential source about the burglary led police to talk to Johnson's mother.
Johnson's mother said that she did not know anything about Johnson being involved in the burglary but mentioned that Johnson was involved with drugs and might have something to do with it.
Johnson's mother said the defendant confessed to her that he had been involved in the burglary, acting on his own. Johnson's mother believed he was telling her the truth that he stole the guns, but did not believe he did it alone, according to the criminal complaint.
