Pine County Sheriff Deputy on Administrative Leave after Theft Allegations

Pine City, MN (NNCNOW.COM) -- One Pine County Sheriff Deputy is in the hot seat after allegations that he stole prescription narcotics while on duty.

The Pine County Sheriff's Office issued a criminal complaint and arrest warrant charging 28-year-old Deputy Justin Arthur Stoddard with seven counts of criminal conduct in relation to allegations of the theft of prescription narcotics while on duty.

The document was prepared by the Kanabec County Attorney's Office and presented by Pine County Sheriff Cole to the Honorable Judge Martin.

Stoddard is currently on administrative leave from the Pine County Sheriff's Office.

According to the criminal complaint, on November 1, 2012, the Pine County Sheriff received information from a Pine County resident, that thefts had allegedly been committed by a Pine County Deputy Sheriff.

A Sheriff's Investigator was immediately dispatched and an investigation was initiated.

On November 2, the Pine County Sheriff requested outside assistance from the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, in conducting this investigation.

The investigation continued under the control of the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office.

This matter is considered an open investigation.
