Minneapolis, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Mountain Iron-Buhl girl's basketball team lost Saturday afternoon 49-37 to Maranatha Christian Academy in the MSHSL Class A state championship.
Dakotah Winans led the Rangers with 12 points in the losing effort, finishing as her team's only double-digit scorer.
Mountain Iron-Buhl also got eight points from both Kathy Ostman and Sarah Overbye in the contest.
The second place finish is the best ever in Mountain Iron-Buhl girl's basketball history, that coming after a third place finish in 2011.
This trip was the third overall state appearance for the Rangers; Mountain Iron and Buhl each made one appearance before the co-op was formed.
Three members from Mountain Iron-Buhl wered named to the Class A all-tournament team, those being senior guard Dakotah Winans, junior center Kathy Ostman, and sophomore guard Sarah Overbye.
For Maranatha Christian Academy, this marks a second consecutive Class A state championship.
