Hughes, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- One man is dead after losing control of his snowmobile and crashing into some trees.
The Bayfield County Sheriff's Office received a call just after 10 p.m. Saturday of the accident on East Deep Lake Road in Hughes Township.
When officers arrived they found Howard Webster Partlow, 42, of Rochester, MN unresponsive and bleeding heavily. CPR was in progress.
Partlow was driving a snowmobile on East Deep Lake Road with his six friends, each on separate snowmobiles. He passed the lead snowmobile and continued south, driving out of sight of the group leader.
He was unable to make it around the next corner, and drifted across the road and off the shoulder, hitting some trees.
Partlow died as a result of his injuries. He was wearing a helmet.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating the incident.
Iron River Police, Iron River Fire and Ambulance, Ashland Paramedics, and the Wisconsin DNR also responded to the accident.
