Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Superior Police Department is investigating a series of arson fires over the past couple of weeks in the downtown area of Superior.

Back on March 20th, around 2:30 A.M. , the Superior Police Department and Superior Fire Department responded to a fire at 1018 John Ave. which is an unoccupied home owned by the Superior Housing Authority and the City of Superior. When authorities arrived on scene, officers found a garbage can on fire inside the garage as well as another fire burning inside the house. The Fire Department was able to extinguish both blazes.

On March 27th around 5:30 A.M., authorities responded to 1022 John Ave. which is also unoccupied. Upon arrival at that scene officers discovered a fire in the kitchen. The Fire Department was able to extinguish this blaze as well. This residence is also owned by the Superior Housing Authority and the City of Superior.

On April 3rd, a little after 3 A.M., an officer of the Superior Police Department was patrolling the area of the 900 block of John Ave. and discovered a small camper on fire next to a garage. While checking on that blaze, a small car on the opposite side of the garage was also on fire.

As those two blazes were being responded to and handled on April 3rd, a third small fire was observed in a camper across the alley on 913 Hughitt Avenue. Within a few minutes of that fire being discovered, another officer was walking in the area and discovered a fourth fire burning on the porch of a house at 1019 Hughitt Ave. That residence was occupied.

Investigators from the Superior Police Department and the Superior Fire Department are investigating the incidents.

Citizens are asked to be observant in and around their neighborhoods and property. Anyone with information is asked to call the Superior Police Department at (715) 395-7652, the Tip Line at (715) 395-7468, or 911.
