Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Two people are dead and one injured after a fatal car accident on Jean Duluth Road Friday.

Authorities responded to the accident shortly after 3:00 p.m Friday. They say a van traveling southbound on Jean Duluth Road spun sideways into oncoming traffic, hitting a tow truck.

Police say the two occupants in the van, a 39 year old woman and an adult male were killed.

The driver of the tow truck was taken to Essentia Hospital with non–life threatening injuries.

Jean Duluth Road was blocked off at Martin Road on the North side and Everette Street on the South Side as Police investigated the accident but has now re-opened.

Duluth officials say since Thursday police have responded to over forty accidents, two resulting in injuries and one resulting in a double fatality.

Authorities are strongly urging drivers to use caution as local roads remain snow covered and slippery.
