Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- According to Superior Police, Jack E. Povaser drove between the Marina Drive barricades, heading northbound at slow speed, and into the gulley on the road around 9 PM Wednesday night.

The Superior Police Department, Superior Fire Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to Marina Drive at the entrance to Barker’s Island at 8:39 PM on Wednesday in response to a motorcyclist who had driven into the gulley created by the bridge washout caused by the June 20th storm and flooding.

A witness stated that he observed the motorcycle pass between the barricades while northbound on Marina Drive at a slow speed.

When the witness didn’t see the motorcycle or rider, he walked over and discovered that Povaser and his motorcycle were in the shallow creek at the bottom of the gulley.

The witness then called 911.

Povaser was found unconscious and non-breathing by officers who were first on scene. CPR was initiated and the victim was transported to Essentia Medical Center by Gold Cross Ambulance.
