Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Texting and driving just don't mix.

Just ask these students at Hermantown High School.

They're putting together a video asking their peers to put their phones down while they're behind the wheel.

It's a continuation of the "Eyes Forward" campaign.
In the video, the students relay the grim statistics and dangers of texting while driving.

"I think it's a lot different when somebody you know and are really close to and who's of the same age too who's saying...you shouldn't text and drive. I think it's a lot different, being on the same level as they are," said senior Mitchell Ryks.

The video will be played on their local channel HTV7 and after the school's morning announcements.

During the week of December 12th, students at Hermantown will be encouraged to sign a pledge to not text and drive.
