How to Make Extra Space in Your Home

By KBJR News 1

Extra space is hard to come by in many homes, but one Northland company helps people make use of every nook and cranny.

"What we were trying to do was build a system that was adaptable to what people are trying to live with and something that can be quickly changed," said Robert Juten from Lifespan Closets.

Lifespan Closets has developed a system for expanding your closet space with railings, shelves and drawers.

The system consists of a base rail connected to the wall... then paneling can be attached and moved around in a variety of ways to fit your needs.

"It's versatile, simple to use for a do it yourselfer or contractor and it's a very affordable product," said Jim Caesar of Lifespan Closets.

These closets can be formatted to fit all rooms from laundry rooms to personalized offices.

All of the closet pieces are manufactured in Superior at the old Georgia Pacific plant.

25 people currently work at Lifespan but company leaders say business is doing well and they hope to hire more people in the near future.

"In the next 24-36 months we anticipate that it will take about 150 people to be employed at the plant for operations," said Juten.

Right now Lifespan Closet has 66 retail stores in 11 states.

Lifespan closet management says within the next two years they plan to expand to 48 states with more than 350 retail outlets.
