A picture can tell a thousand words.

In this weeks invest in the Northland Laura Langemo tells us about one Duluth woman who is using the art of photography to capture the stories of families across the Twin Ports.

Chelsea Morgan always dreamed of being an artist... but it wasn't until she first held a camera that she realized she had found her passion.

"It started when I was 15 I knew that I wanted to be an artist of some sort but I couldn't draw or paint and then I took up photography and just found it was my niche."

It was after Chelsea had her first baby that she made the decision to start her own photography business... specializing in taking pictures of children.

"There's just something about taking pictures of kids. They just have no inhibitions... and they have really good energy which I think makes for a really fun photo shoot."

Chelsea opened Magic Box Photography five years ago and has seen significant growth each year.

"Every year my business has grown in sales. A couple of years ago it's been 40 percent or 50 percent and now it's more like 20 to 30 percent that it's growing."

But Chelsea finds that the most rewarding part of the job is showing her clients the photos she has taken of their little ones.

"A lot of them say they get choked up or tears in their eyes a little bit because I try to capture their children as they really are and their spirit."

Chelsea says she looks forward to continue taking pictures of these children as they grow into adulthood.

"I just think that I'll be doing this for years and years and I'll be doing their grad pictures, which I think is amazing."
