Welding in the Northland

John Anderson has traveled the world while working in the oil and gas industry.

But after 15 years of traveling he wanted to try something new.

"I was pretty much tired of traveling and I kept trying to think to myself what could I put together that would have its own little niche," says Anderson.

Anderson knew that niche would have to be within his field.

With that in mind... he opened Portable Bore Repair and Jim's Welding in 2004.

Anderson found that align boring is a service many companies don't provide.

It consists of remanufacturing equipment components like hinges.

"Basically we can go in and we can re-machine these components to where they are like new, coming from the factory. We bring them back to tighter tolerances to where everything has a nice tight fit again," says Anderson.

Since Anderson opened his business it has continued to flourish.

In fact he even expanded his business with the purchase of Jim's Welding in Superior.

"From the time the business has started to right about now the business has continued to grow by leaps and bounds every year," says Anderson.

Anderson has hopes of further expansion and hiring more employees in the future.

"There is just a really good pool of talent to draw from... so who knows where this will go... we'll see," says Anderson.

John Anderson currently has 16 employees and recently hired an additional four people.
