Creating and Displaying Art for the Northland

Tami and Dan Edmunds have always shared a passion for the arts.

So when a room opened at the Trade and Commerce Market Place in Superior... they jumped at the opportunity to open their own gallery.

"As we looked at it there was room for two studios so he and I both have a studio here. So we work here and have a small gallery, so it couldn't have been more perfect," says Tami.

Tami and Dan opened Art in the Alley in May of 2008.

The facility was designed so customers can watch Dan and Tami create art, while also serving as a retail outlet for their work.

"I've made this piece of jewelry for someone but I don't know who I'm making it for and then I watch them come in and see the piece that they're attracted to and I say I made this for you," says Tami.

As many people came in to watch Dan and Tami create their artwork that they began offering classes through Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.

"They come in and they see me working and they say I would love to make that and that's brought in a whole class schedule that we're doing now," says Tami.

Tami and Dan's work environment is especially inspirational to them as they got married in that very building ... and they continue to look forward to working together for many years to come.

"To join together with another artist and share this together on a daily basis it's great," says Dan.

Art in the Alley sells jewelry, pottery, paintings, and small furniture.
