Eco Jewelers

Store lighting is an important attribute when dealing with diamonds. Changing the lighting could change the business.

But one Duluth jewelry store has switched out their old bulbs and shed new light on significant savings as meteorologist Shannon Murphy explains in, "Your Green Life."

When you're shopping for the perfect diamond for the perfect someone, the green you're thinking is usually the cost of the carat, not the environment.

But Jack Seiler of Security Jewelers already completed an eco-friendly transformation that has turned the attention away from the glitz and glamour of the goods.

"Most of the people have complimented us on our new carpeting, and it just looks brighter because of the lights! And it's just the same old carpet."

All of the old incandescent lighting and store ballasts have been swapped out for new energy efficient light bulbs, and their electric bill has already dropped by a third.

Following this green trend, jewelers have also created eco-friendly products, which can eliminate the irritating dead wrist watch.

"All of these watches have a photo sensitive dial that gathers power from any light source, no matter if it is artificial or natural and that powers the watch."

Even the packaging is made from recycled material.

"We've done everything I think we can do, but if technology comes up with something different, we'll do it."
