Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - A troubling new report says nationwide, one in nine high school seniors use synthetic drugs.

The National Institutes of Health survey is prompting US Senators to call for legislation to ban the harmful substances.

The designer drugs include K2, bath salts, and 2CE which led to the death of a Minnesota teen and hospitalized several others earlier this year.

Three US Senators, including, Senator Amy Klobuchar are leading the effort to ban the chemicals.
