Hatteras, NC (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Two people are still missing from the tall ship HMS Bounty off the coast of North Carolina as Hurricane Sandy continues to bound the east coast.

The Coast Guard has rescued 14 of the 16 crew members of the HMS Bounty.

According to the Coast Guard Sector North Carolina, officials received a call from the owner of the 180-foot, three mast tall ship, saying she had lost communication with the vessel's crew late Sunday evening.

The vessel was reportedly taking on water and was without propulsion. At the time, weather was reported to be 40 mph winds and 18-foot seas.

The 14 people who have already been rescued were taken to Air Station Elizabeth City and then taken by emergency medical services personnel.

A C-130 Hercules aircraft remains on scene and is searching for the two missing crewmembers and a third Jayhawk crew is en route to assist search and rescue efforts.

The HMS Bounty has been featured in many documentaries and feature films such as the Edinburgh Trader in Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Mans Chest with Johnny Depp
