Maple, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- The 18–year–old Ashland woman who was killed in a head–on crash in Maple Saturday morning has been identified.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says 18–year–old Gabrielle Bresette, of Ashland, was the passenger pronounced dead at the scene of Saturday's crash along U.S. Highway Two near the Olson Road.

Authorities say a westbound Ford Focus driven by 43–year–old Derek Nelis of Ashland crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound logging truck head–on.

Nelis reported to deputies that the car made a noise, and started to shimmy, before crossing the centerline.

The logging truck was driven by 51–year–old Antoine Dalbec, of Maple.
A 29–year–old woman riding in the logging truck was taken to a local hospital.

Neither driver reported any injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, and the Wisconsin State Patrol Motor Carrier Enforcement Section.
