Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Target says it's cutting 475 jobs worldwide and not filling another 700 open positions.
Target spokeswoman Molly Snyder wouldn't specify how many of the cuts affect the retailer's headquarters in Minneapolis, where about 11,000 employees work.
"We believe these decisions, while difficult, are the right actions as we continue to focus on transforming our business. We will continue to invest in key business areas to strengthen our ability to compete and thrive well into the future," said Snyder in a statement.
The announcement comes as the company continues to deal with fallout after a security breach impacted millions of customers.
The company also announced Tuesday that Target will stop providing health coverage to its part-time workers on April 1st.
All employees with eliminated positions were notified this morning.
