A retired police dog is honored after his death

Walker, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Retired K–9 Portos was dear to many at the Cass County Sherriff's Office. The dog died yesterday afternoon after serving under K–9 Officer Bill Conner for 7 years and retiring in 2012.

During his time serving, Portos detected over 20 pounds of narcotics and apprehended numerous suspects.

Portos and Conner were honored by the U.S. Police K–9 Association for recovering 15 pounds of marijuana in one traffic stop, among many other actions.
