Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Hundreds of people gathered in Duluth Friday night to walk in support and memory of loved ones who have suffered from cancer.
The annual relay for life event is being held at Wheeler field.
At dusk luminaries will light up the grounds in honor of those who have been affected by the disease.
Cancer survivors, such as Gerri Devine took the first lap to kick off the 12 hour relay.
Devine was diagnosed in 2009.
"I was diagnosed with lung cancer and today is July 2013 and I'm still here," said Devine.
Her team's name is "The Believers" this was the second relay she has participated in.
