Anonymous donors matching donations made to the Salvation Army

December 19, 2013 Updated Dec 19, 2013 at 12:13 PM CST

Roseville, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Salvation Army is getting a special Christmas present of its own with all donations made to the charity in Minnesota and North Dakota on Dec. 20 and Dec. 21 will being doubled.

“The message is clear – any gift you give to The Salvation Army for two days will do double the good,” said Lt. Col. Robert Thomson, Salvation Army commander for Minnesota and North Dakota. “Across the region donations are down 20 to 30 percent, but an outpouring of generosity now can turn things around in every country of both states. That means more lives will be impacted – Salvation Army services are vital to support those in need.”

This is the largest two-day matching gift in Salvation Army history. It comes from a small group of anonymous donors who pooled $2 million worth of matching funds to get Salvation Army Christmas Campaigns back on track in Minnesota and North Dakota.

To double your donation this Friday and Saturday:

• Give at a kettle
• Call 800-SAL-ARMY (725-2769)
• Stop by your local Salvation Army and drop off a check dated 12/20 or 12/21
• Give online at SalvationArmyNorth.org

Kettle donors are encouraged to snap a photo showing the peace sign and post it on social media using #double.
