Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- An arrest has been made in a homicide that took place in 2012 in Superior.
21-year-old Tiawain Albert Johnson is pending extradition from Chicago on allegations that he shot and killed Toriano Cooper on North 12th Street in Superior on January 15, 2012.
The investigation has been ongoing and developments from the investigation have led to charges against Johnson.
Police say Johnson had been residing in Superior at the time of the homicide but returned to the Chicago area after the shooting.
The investigation uncovered that a robbery took place a few weeks prior to the shooting death of Cooper. Police believe that Cooper took part in robbing Johnson of narcotics and money. Johnson was aware of the identity of Cooper and the shooting is believed to be an act of retaliation for the robbery.
On Monday, June 17, a criminal complaint/warrant out of Douglas County was filed for Johnson alleging First Degree Intentional Homicide for his actions of intentionally causing the death of Cooper.
Johnson was already in custody in Chicago on an unrelated charge, and is currently being held at the Cook County jail in Illinois pending extradition to Superior for charges.
If convicted, Johnson could face life in prison.
