Hibbing, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Authorities are investigating a suicide Sunday morning at the St. Louis County Lockup facility in Hibbing,
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Shane Ervin Fisher, who would have turned 31 Monday, apparently attempted suicide within minutes of staff performing a required, routine well-being check.
Hibbing Fire/Ambulance was called to the scene around 7:05 a.m.
Emergency responders were unable to revive Fisher, who died of apparent asphyxiation.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Fisher had been arrested by the Minnesota State Patrol at 1:40 a.m. and was booked at the Hibbing Lockup facility at 2:13 a.m.
Authorities say Fisher was being held on charges of DWI, fleeing in a motor vehicle and first and fourth degree assault for attempting to disarm a trooper.
The St. Louis County Medical Examiner's Office, Sheriff's Office and the Hibbing Police Department are investigating.
Authorities say no foul play is suspected.
