Oakdale, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Bail has been set at $2 million for the man charged in connection with the random shooting that took the life of a 9 year old boy in the Twin Cities.

According to our partners at KARE 11, Nahn Lap Tran of Oakdale has been charged with second degree murder and assault after he appeared in Washington County Court Wednesday morning.

The charges stem from a shooting rampage that left 9 year old Devyn Aryal dead and two adults injured.

Aryal was fatally shot Monday night while riding in a minivan with his mother near 7th and Hadley in Oakdale Monday night. His mother was also shot in the arm, but survived.

Another victim, 68-year old Karen Knoblach, was shot while in her car. She was in good condition at Regions Hospital Tuesday night.

Witnesses say 34 year old Tran allegedly opened fire on a number of vehicles while walking down the street. Prosecutors say he tossed a 9mm handgun when officers approached him, and was also carrying two clips filled with ammunition and other ammo in a backpack and a fannypack.

Tran's defense attorney asked for a mental health exam which prosecutors agreed with. Bail was then set at $2 million.

Hundreds gathered at a church not far from the fatal shooting scene Tuesday night to grieve for Devyn Aryal and pray for the families of the victims involved in the random shooting.
