Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Bail has been set for a Duluth man accused of murdering his 14–month old daughter at a half million dollars.
Duluth Police arrested 30–year–old Christopher Peterson of Duluth Wednesday morning for the suffocation death of his daughter.
According to the criminal complaint, Peterson admitted to authorities that on several occasions he had become frustrated with the child's crying, and to stop her he placed his hand over her mouth and pinched her nostrils closed until she stopped fussing.
Peterson is currently on probation for a misdemeanor domestic assault charge against the child's mother. The charge of a felony domestic assault by strangulation was dismissed.
Peterson has a criminal record involving escape from custody and several thefts of a motor vehicles plus card fraud. He also has been charged with mistreatment of an animal by depriving it of food and shelter.
Peterson's next court appearance has been set for August 21st.
