Beach Advisory for Duluth Beaches

June 12, 2012 Updated Jun 12, 2012 at 7:15 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Officials are recommending that Duluth residents stay out of the water at the Leif Erickson Park Beach and at two Park Point beaches due to elevated E.coli bacteria levels.

Water samples collected on June 11th indicate the possible presence of fecal contamination at the Leif Erickson Park Beach, the Minnesota Point Harbor Side Beach on 15th Street in Park Point and the Hearding Island Canal Beach on 20th Street in Park Point.

Water samples have been taken again today and will be tested for the E. coli bacteria.

If you become sick after contact with the water at these three beaches, please contact the Minnesota Department of Health.
