Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Throughout the years, Duluth has become a brewery Mecca of sorts.

Now, one relatively new brewery is putting the Northland on the world beer stage.

Canal Park Brewing Company in Duluth has recently come back from the 2014 World Beer Cup with a silver medal in the English style Brown Ale category.

The victorious brew: their Nut Hatchet Nut Brown, which was pit against 49 other entries.

As the name suggests, the World Beer Cup is an internationally recognized award ceremony, with winners ranging from Taiwan to Germany.

"It's nice to finally be recognized not as Canal Park Brewing, but as Duluth," said CPB Co. Tour Guide Jonathan "Tinga" Portinga, "now we've put Duluth on the map knowing that, hey, there's this place up in Northern Minnesota that can really make world–class beer."

In all, 6 Minnesota breweries took home medals from the World Beer Cup this year.

6 also went to breweries across the bridge, in Wisconsin.
