Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) -The Northland Chapter of the Red Cross is assisting a family of three after a car crashed into an apartment complex in Gary New Duluth Sunday night.
No one was hurt in the incident.
Officials say the car, traveling south bound on highway 23, veered off the road and crashed into the apartment destroying access to the top floor and rendering the family's apartment inaccessible.
The owners of the complex are working on putting in new supports for the building.
A neighbor, who witnessed the crash, said the people who live upstairs were not home at the time of the accident.
"I was sleeping on my couch right by the windows and it sounded like a gun shot when off right by the window...it was a car that ran into the building," said Jill Johnson who lives in the complex.
Officials say they are uncertain of what caused in the accident and do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The red cross is assisting the family with food, shelter and emotional support.
