Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A cat that was nearly killed on Highway 2 near Saginaw last week has found a new home.

Lucki was rescued by a St. Louis County Deputy Sheriff last Tuesday after being hit by a car and left for dead on the side of the road.

Since then, Lucki has been in the care of Animal Allies in Duluth where workers say they've received an overwhelming response about the cat.

Shelter officials say because Lucki's owner did not come forward, they put him up for adoption.

"They had five days according to Minnesota state law to come forward and claim him they didn't, so he went up for adoption, but it worked out well for him because he found a really good home," said Jennie Connelly
with Animal Allies Duluth.

Lucki was just one of many cats up for adoption at Animal Allies. Shelter officials say they currently have a higher than usual number of cats at the Duluth shelter right now and hope to find good homes for the felines.
