Grand Marais, MN (NNCNOW.com)-- Cook County's Board of Commissioners today addressed public concerns about a relationship between a 17-year-old Grand Marais girl and the Cook County Attorney.
County Attorney Tim Scannell was recently the subject of a restraining order filed by the girl's family in order to keep Scannel away from their 17-year-old daughter and the rest of the family.
A public outcry prompted the board to address this issue, saying they have little power to deal with the situation, but are following the facts as they develop.
"We would like to express our deep concerns to all the parties involved as well for our community during this difficult time."
The county attorney's office had no comment.
Scannell was not present at the meeting, or at his office today, but has previously indicated he has no intention of stepping down from his position as county attorney.
