Bayfield County, WI (NNCNOW.com)-- Just west of Ashland, Wisconsin, several agencies are using fire to restore thousands of acres of forest land.
Officials with the Forest Service say that close to 2,500 acres have been lit up in the past few days. 900 acres were burned Saturday.
Weekend weather conditions were favorable for this exercise. Crews have to wait for a cool and calm day to perform the controlled burn.
50,000 acres in that area have been designated to be restored through these types of burns.
