Cromwell, MN (The Northland's NewsCenter) - Just before three Sunday afternoon, Carlton County 911 received a report of a man found dead in a home on Krogh Road in Red Clover Township.
When Deputies got to the house they found not only Holm dead but also his live in girlfriend, Kim Schmitz.
Sheriff Lake has called the deaths suspicious in nature and says this is being treated as a homicide investigation.
Saturday night, the night before the bodies were found, St. Louis County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call on the Albert Road near Saginaw for a truck on fire.
Sheriff Lake said, "There was a pickup truck belonging to the male victim that was missing at the time the officers responded to the house."
Officers say the pickup truck they found engulfed in flames near Saginaw belonged to Tom Holm, what they cannot say is if the truck was taken from the residence before or after the alleged murders.
At this point Carlton County Sheriff Kelly Lake says they have no suspects and the killer remains at large.
The sheriff is asking if anyone knows anything about the murders or about the burned truck to call the sheriff's department.
"If they saw anyone or anything suspicious in the area of Albert road in Saginaw... where the truck was found by St. Louis County, we're just asking they call their local law enforcement or contact the Carlton County Sheriff's Office."
There's an all out search for the person or people who killed Tom Holm and Kim Schmitz.
We will continue to follow the investigation and bring you any new details here on our website northlandsnewscenter.com.
