Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- SuperValu is notifying customers of a criminal computer intrusion striking some of their owned and franchised stores across the country.

Cub Foods off W Central Entrance in Duluth is among the stores that were targeted.

SuperValu says they experienced an intrusion into their computer network that processes payment and card transaction; however, when it comes to the Duluth Cub Foods store, there is not any evidence that the data has been misused as of Friday.

Cardholder data is believed to have possibly been stolen if the transaction was processed from June 22 (at the earliest) through July 17 (at the latest).

SuperValu says account numbers may have been obtained in the intrusion; and in some cases, the expiration date, other numerical information and/or the card holder's name may have been breached.

"However, given the continuing nature of the investigation, it is possible that time frames, locations and/or at–risk data in addition to those described above will be identified in the future," SuperValu stated in a press release.

The company took immediate steps to secure the affected part of their network, and say a third–party forensics expert is continuing the investigation.

Customers will not be held responsible for counterfeit fraudulent charges on their credit cards or debit cards which are timely reported, SuperValu said.
